Northland Evangelical Movement Inc. (N.E.M.) was formed in 1946, an organisation of people believing in Jesus Christ as Lord. Children’s Easter camps were run in Mangapai, Maungakaramea, Maungaturoto & then for 8 years in the old Onerahi hall.
Parua Bay land was purchased/gifted in March 1960, and the Parua Bay Christian Youth Haven building began to take form. People generously volunteered their time talent & equipment. We hosted our first campers in 1963.
The Haven is dedicated to the spreading of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with special commitment given to the Families of Northland.
In 1964 our first Easter Camp in our new Haven with 120 children was held. The Haven annually hosts up to 150 children. Easter 2004 marked our 40th Easter Camp at the Haven for children aged 8 to 12 years.
We are assisted always by volunteers & donations which help make camp available to all. God has faithfully provide all needed for continuation of our Haven Vision.
Today we have an enthusiastic team of wonderful young people keen to share their lives and the Gosple of Jesus with Children and Families of Northland. It is both exciting and challenging to be part of what God is doing. People who come to HOLYground hear the life giving message of Jesus present clearly and honestly. Jesus Christ is the Risen Son of the Living God and apart from Him there is no other Way - no other Life and no other Truth.
